Here is one of my favorite videos from the Glass Spider Tour…

Bowie asked me to open the show. As I had ripped my Achilles Tendon, I put this outfit together and spiked my hair, I arranged this intro and let her rip… Bowie could not have been happier.

I was asked by the Moog Corporation to beta test their new guitar the Paul Vo edition. Instead of the notes decaying like a regular guitar each string would feedback exponentially. I could not control it, until I decided to write this song.

It came as a result of Bassist Will Lee asking me to participate for a memorial for our dear friend, the late and great  guitarist Hiram Bullock. I do not usually sing, unless it’s background vocals but I was so moved that I just had to express my loss and sentiment with this beautiful song.

HEARTS FILTY LESSON

Sometimes I cannot believe the amount of technology that accompanies these tours that we do. Whenever an engineer uses the latest plug-in, it challenges the touring musician to meet and surpass the effect in an actual performance application. Please take note to the amount of foot pedals that I use on tour.

HALLO SPACEBOY

I love this Video, I was asked to do  the Nine Inch Nails tour with Bowie and this Song on Tour drove me crazy…..I loved it  !!!

You will not believe the power and energy that this song delivers on Stage. It is relentless. The culmination of my guitar bits leading me to the feedback at the end is outstanding, if I do have to say so myself…

let me know what you think. ( How about that VanDyke?)

This Bowie classic has withstood the test of time and remains one of my favorites. I was privileged to re visit Mick Ronson’s solo in my own way…please tell me what you think.

Here is Life on Mars again and Ashes to Ashes . David sounds amazing on this video. He was so anxious about appearing on the Johnny Carson Show. But, he really nailed it. Incidentally, I’m playing Mellotron (taped Strings) on Life on Mars and a double neck  on Ashes…I introduced the B.C. Rich “Bich” the same year on tour and decided to use it on the show for pizazz… But, it was sooooo heavy, I had to “deep 6” it later for fear of losing the circulation in my arms. lol

the 83 arrangement was excellent, I thought it was clever to give you the solo and have Earl do the cello parts, same in 76 with you and stacey

I love the 1980 tv appearance, I always wondered what the scary monsters tour would have sounded like if it had happened

Thanks for all the music Carlos

The sonic palette of every single one of those videos/songs (especially Life on Mars ?) is astounding. More than a brilliant technician, we can hear an inspired soul in Mr. Alomar. It all just flows and is very organic in the approach… The Mellotron on Carson sounds like a million bucks.Wow !

That Johnny Carson performance was superb!! And your solo on Mars is just gorgeous, an honest tribute to Mick’s, great stuff. You’re a master. Proud to share that small peck of an island we call home. Boricua 4 evah! Sorry for the loss that Bowie’s passing represent to all of us.

    Hi Carlos,
Just wanted to say I too absolutely love Spaceboy live! I think the way you guys played it during the Outside tour was excellent. That riff you play is great. What kind of effect do you use on that?
